Humid and warm air first passes over the evaporator section of the horseshoe-shaped heat pipe for preliminary cooling, transferring part of its sensible heat to the working fluid. After this process, the partially cooled air comes into contact with the cooling coil, where both cooling and dehumidification occur.

The amount of moisture removed depends on the refrigerant used in the cooling coil and the coil’s temperature. After leaving most of its moisture here, the air then contacts the final element of the heat pipe – the condenser section – where it recovers the heat previously lost during cooling. The air, now reheated and with lower humidity, is supplied to the conditioned space.
